Proprietary Software Vendors are rushing to tell us how ‘Open’ their software is… But what does it really mean?

Sitecore has a shared source library, Day Software supports over 25 Open Source products, Nstein reckons open extension frameworks are just as good as OSS and vendors like Jadu just downright lie and call their products open source when they’re clearly not… Of course, this rush towards openness is a welcome development from proprietary software vendors. It’s a small step towards truly open code and standards.

MySource Matrix is the third generation of the MySource CMS product range. It’s a great product and I believe its functionality is still very advanced in the WCMS space. Even so, our dev team are not the sort to sit still, so a few years ago we began work on our next generation product – the product that will become Squiz’s 4th generation CMS.

'As we grow, how do we keep hold of the small business passion and enthusiasm that made us so successful in the first place?' It’s a tough one but if I think of the way Squiz has done it, it all comes down to the morals the company lives by - we’d even like to think that our company morals are quite revolutionary
