HOUSEKEEPING 📨

No original post today team. I took a week off a few weeks ago over and am using my end of year ‘get out of jail free’ card again now. Since finishing up for the year on the 23rd, I’ve literally walked Ziggy (pictured below), trained, walked Ziggy, and watched Succession reruns from the couch. I am six days into this schedule and have no real plans to change it.

I do have an original post I did as a guest post for Strategy Breakdowns that you can read if you are really hankering for some content. It was a banger.

I am also naming my favourite piece for the year, and dumping a recap of the years post for you as well.

While building out the recap, and listing all the posts I began to feel a real sense of pride for what we’ve achieved this year. We went from a newsletter that had a few followers and some decent pieces, to a real thing.

Today we have a seventy-five-thousands (typed in words for full effect) strong crew of ambitious tech and business folks who consume our stuff, and some I’d even go as far as to say they love it. We’ve also worked with some of the coolest companies on the planet as partners.

Our biggest partnerships—Deel, Sidebar, PostHog, Attio—are all companies I am a user of at Athyna, and we are just starting campaign with another company we use, Paddle, and one we are about to onboard with, Vanta. And with that, here is my recent piece and the recap of 2024. Enjoy!

Athyna’s Creator-Led GTM Strategy

“Implement average strategies, get average results.” Someone must have said that at some point. If not, I’m saying it, here, today.

Howdy all, my name is Bill Kerr, people call me Doc (long story) and I am here to talk you through how we at my startup, Athyna, are thinking about GTM in a different way.

Why—”In a different way?” Well, if we go back to our original quote, I firmly believe that if you do what everyone else does, you will by definition be what everyone else is. Average. And who wants to be average? 

Take it from me, I’m the guy who concocted a plan to send 1 million outbound emails a daywith a 50 person startup—two years ago and got a quarter of the way there before Google crashed our party.

So today we are going to talk through what we are calling our ‘Negative CAC creator-led media pyramid.’ At the end of the post, if you have a more apt name for this strategy, I’ll be pleased to hear it. Ok let’s go!

My favourite post of the year

My favourite piece for the year was this piece I did with PostHog on their zero to one. It was my favourite for a number of reasons: a) their team was great to work with b) we love their product, and c) I think PostHog have the coolest brand in tech. So it was really just a pleasure to write the piece with them.
